Gallery Hirota Fine Arts is pleased to present the solo exhibition "Natsuki Urushihara - Paranoia Pareidolia -" from 15th July (Fri) to 30th July (Sat) 2022.
Urushihara,born in 1977, has been mainly working on solo exhibitions since completing his postgraduate studies in Japanese painting at Tokyo University of Arts.
Since his solo exhibition in 2013, he has been focusing on portraits and landscapes, trying to express their existences.
Pandemic caused by COVID-19 has given us more of a private time, while it estranged the connection to the outer world, which made him strogly realize that the scenery of private space being densed.
Through his affection and paranoia, he depicted the figure of people appearing densely while blending into the surroundings, as "scenery that symbolizes the person themselves".
"Pareidoria" from the subhead refers to a phenomena of people recalling something familiar in their vision, even though it actually does not exist in their sight.
Since the last solo exhibition held in 2019, this exhibition will be held at a timing that made him think deeply about the "state of existence", which also shares the root of his past works.
Approximately 10 new artworks will be exhibited, including those of large sizes.
