Dates: 5/27 (Fri.) - 6/11 (Sat.), 2022

Venue: Gallery Hirota Bijutsu

Gallery Hirota Bijutsu is pleased to present "Tomoyuki Kambe -Precious ones-" from May 27 (Fri.) to June 11 (Sat.), 2022.

Tomoyuki Kambe's work began with a focus on the Nagara River in his hometown of Gifu Prefecture and the small creatures that inhabit its banks.
Since the end of 2013, he has been working under the theme of "life" to actively, rather than passively, depict the world of small creatures that are earnest in their efforts to "live" in any environment, sometimes in a positive manner.

In her first solo exhibition in six years, she will present new works that depict the environment of familiar creatures in an attempt to grasp the shape and direction of our society and the connections and similarities between our society and the creatures we are familiar with, as well as the shape of society we have never noticed before.

I try to depict nature as it is today, where alien species live alongside native species. By observing the small world of nature, I get a sense of the larger world. I hope that the connection from the micro to the macro level will make it possible for me to create contemporary paintings. Tomoyuki Kambe

This will be my first solo exhibition at Gallery Hirota in about 6 years.
We are planning to exhibit 9 paintings, including a large one-hemispheric work.
We look forward to your visit.
