The act of sketching is one of the very important steps in my art production process.
By carefully drawing the subject that is in front of you, you get a feel of the deep, internal beauty that is contained within that small object that you otherwise would not if you were to just look at it.
This piece too is an expression of the beautiful life that I felt in my heart when I was paint pictures of peonies that are losing their petals.
Gyoshū Hayami once said that 'paintings are not born from concepts, but can only be created once passion rises from the depths of recognition', and I came to realise this through the act of sketching. I want to continue to value this feeling as I continue to create.
