This is a painting for the 50th anniversary exhibition of Gallery Hirota Fine Art.
I wanted to draw a flower suitable for an anniversay, so I used a red rose as a motif.
Typically I draw lots of faces, so it was refreshing and fun to draw something new for the first time in years. It took me no time at all to complete this piece.
'Congratulations on 50 years. I give you a red rose in celebration. I have accumulated the history of the Gallery in the appearance of a beautifully blooming flower with many petals. It is a great honour to be able to celebrate this day with you.'
